Family Garden
The Brief for this garden was for it to be wildlife friendly, relaxed and easy to maintain; with plenty of room for the children to play. There were quite a few mature trees and shrubs so the finished garden has more of an established feel from the start. I loved the multistemmed tree. The far end of the garden was very overgrown with shrubs and trees. From these we kept the conifer, but bared its stem to create a feature of it. There were also some Rhus typhina - a problem tree in many gardens as it can send up an alarming amount of suckers. However, this was an ideal opportunity to contain it in the far corner, add a few more, and make the most of its ornamental form and glorious autumn colour.
The whole family got involved with preparation and planting and were a real pleasure to work with.
The amazing vegetable patch onthe right is entirely to the credit of the clients!
